Jose Luis Pereira Suarez, age 85, a longtime resident of Boston, passed away on March 24, 2024, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Jose Luis was born in 1938 to the late Amalia Suarez and Pedro Pereira in Chivana, Honduras, the third oldest of 11 siblings. He immigrated to the United States in 1976, where he met and married Gloria Pereira, his wife of 48 years. He lived the latter part of his life in Boston, where he raised his children and watched his grandchildren grow up. He worked for MCI Norfolk for over 20 years, retiring in 2001.
For Jose Luis, family was always the most important aspect of his life. He was a provider and he always took care of his family. He worked in construction from an early age, having built 3 colleges in Honduras. When he came to the United States he continued to build a foundation for his wife, children, and family who remained in Honduras. Jose Luis made sure all of his children received an education and became successful members of society. His hobbies included watching soccer games, eating lobster, and traveling. This is how he spent his last few weeks, alongside his wife, enjoying the sunsets of Puerto Rico.
Jose is survived by his 7 children, 14 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
